Publication of the correction to the 2nd update of the “Standard Design”

In March 2026, the Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency (BSH) published the 2nd update of the “Standard Design” – Minimum requirements concerning the constructive design of offshore structures within the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).

In the meantime, Annex 9 has been finalised. This annex incorporates the key provisions from Part C of the current Standard Ground Investigation (2014) into the Standard Design and will, in future, set out the minimum requirements for geotechnical investigations, as well as the resulting documentation to be prepared with regard to the design and dimensioning of offshore structures in the German Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).

Furthermore, the inclusion of Annex 9 was used as an opportunity to make editorial corrections. The amendments can be found in the list of changes (p. 9 ff).

The 2^nd update to the “Standard Design”, including Annex 9 and the correction dated 1 October 2026, can be downloaded from the BSH website. Please take this into account in your procedures.
