The Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency (BSH) participated in the DG Mare project “eMSP NBSR – Emerging Ecosystem-based Maritime Spatial Planning Topics in the North and Baltic Sea Regions” which recently had its final conference in Gdansk (https://www.emspproject.eu/). The project worked with so-called “communities of practice” that brought together representatives of planning authorities, maritime sectors, experts and other stakeholders to work on a total of seven urgent MSP topics. Together with Maritime University Gdansk, BSH led the work on monitoring and evaluation. During the course of the project, a conceptional framework was developed that showcases the various dimensions of monitoring and evaluation in MSP. Based on extensive discussions within the community of practice, recommendations were developed designed to help planners implement monitoring and evaluation in MSP.

The project report summarising the work on monitoring and evaluation, two associated policy briefs and all other project results can be downloaded here.
