Expansion of wind energy across the North Sea: modeling electricity yield

  • General

The Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency today published the results of a study by Fraunhofer IWES on the expansion of offshore wind energy across the North Sea and its impact on electricity yield.

Using reference years, a scenario for the possible development of offshore expansion and the corresponding development of electricity yield up to 2050 is examined. The assumptions regarding installed capacity in the individual countries were agreed upon within the framework of Working Group SG 2 of the North Seas Energy Cooperation (NSEC). The results also serve as a contribution to the 3rd North Sea Summit, which will take place in Hamburg in 2026.

The report is available on the BSH website.
