France is in the process of updating its maritime spatial plans, and is now revising the ‘stratégie maritime de façade’ for the four metropolitan maritime regions: Eastern Channel-North Sea, North Atlantic Western Channel, South Atlantic and Mediterranean maritime regions.
Under the MSFD, the ‘stratégie maritime de façade’ includes an update of the assessment of the initial state of marine waters and environmental objectives. This update also includes the planning of priority areas for offshore wind farms and their connection, for 10 years and 2050.
The French Ministry for Ecological Transition, Biodiversity, Forests, the Sea and Fisheries conducts a public consultation until 5 August 2025 on these documents: https://jeparticipe.expertises-territoires.fr/processes/PPVESFM2025
A stakeholder meeting takes place on 18 June from 2pm to 3:30pm:
