The 2021 maritime spatial plan is the subject of a scientific paper published in January 2024 by a team of BSH authors. The paper describes the main changes that have taken place since the first maritime spatial plans came into force in 2009, considering both the development of MSP as an instrument and changes in the German EEZ. The authors also discuss some key challenges they consider important for future MSP.
