The Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency (BSH) organised a meeting on the draft scoping document as well as on the concept for the revision of the maritime spatial plans in the German Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) of the North Sea and the Baltic Sea on the 18th and 19th of March 2020. This meeting allowed the participants, mostly national public authorities, interest groups and sector representatives, to get involved and make suggestions at an early stage of the revision process. This event was held as an online meeting, due to the current situation with the Corona pandemic.
On the 18th of March 2020, BSH presented the draft scoping document for the Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA). During this presentation, reference was made to some of the comments and statements received to the draft documents. In addition, after each thematic block, all participants had the opportunity to comment and share their own positions. This stimulated discussion among the participants from the various sectors.
On the 19th of March 2020, BSH presented the concept for the revision of the maritime spatial plans. After a brief introduction to the procedure, three planning options with different perspectives were presented. The spatial and textual designations for the different sectors in the three planning options were explained and discussed with the participants. In addition to the possibility of making statements during this meeting, all participants had the opportunity to submit an extended statement up to three weeks after the meeting.
BSH would like to thank all participants for the helpful discussions, suggestions and comments.
Detailed documents are available on the BSH website.
