The BSH may designate routes, route corridors and platform locations for offshore grid connections – which are first designated in the site development plan (Flächenentwicklungsplan, FEP) – as infrastructure areas in accordance with Section 12j(1), sentences 1 and 2, of the Energy Industry Act (Energiewirtschaftsgesetz, EnWG).
The procedure for the preparation of an infrastructure area plan was initiated on 19 August 2026. Public authorities and the public have the opportunity to comment on the draft by 21 September 2026 (public authorities) and 19 October 2026 (the public) respectively.
